About

About

Brandon Soloff is a classically trained painter and portraitist, whose work has been commissioned and exhibited throughout the United States and Europe.  An experienced art instructor, he currently lives and works in New York City and Lyon, France.

The primary focus is people: portraits and nudes.

Studying extensively in Italy, France and the United States, Brandon concentrated on drawing and painting with Charles H. Cecil and D. Jeffrey Mims, fresco with Ben Long on the Transamerica Fresco Dome, and sculpture with Martine Vaugel. He spent short stints with other artists, and a year at Haverford College. He studied and copied drawings and paintings in the Harvard Fogg Museum, The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Uffizi Gallery, the Louvre, the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Musée Henner Paris, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Brandon continues in the atelier tradition as he encourages his students to master greater visual acuity and self-criticism, correction and motivation through consistent effort. He founded and  teaches at Chelsea Classical Studio. He has taught at the National Academy School, the Art Students League of New York, Studio 126 and Studio415ny, and conducted workshops in Europe and The U.S.

He paints from life; believing a strong rapport with each subject or model enhances the collective experience and is critical for a unique rendering on canvas. He has completed commissioned portraits which are on permanent display at Dartmouth College and Westmont College, and other business and private locations.
